A special gift of marble required that I expand my comfort zone. It was a challenge that gave birth to Ginger, a horse made from the union of stone and steel.
Sculpting animals is a very rare occurrence in my career. The piece of marble was given to me and sat in my studio for many years until it demanded to be done. The day I received the stone, it was obvious to me that it was a cubistic horse head. Releasing Ginger from the marble block was a daunting task. Once started, Ginger marched forward, found its body and is a happy horse.
